Spend an afternoon taking a tour around selected cities of the Mediterranean world and learn more about their artistic heritage. These workshops will enhance your viewing experience by providing background information on key sites that you could cover in a day.

Ancient Thebes (Luxor): Tombs
Saturday 23 October 2010, 2–5pm
Explore the secret rooms and passageways of the tombs of kings, commoners and nobles; and visit the village of the people who created them, at Deir el-Medina.

Ancient Athens
Saturday 22 January 2011, 2–5pm
Essential sites include the superb Parthenon, the Theatre of Dionysus, and the Agora, but also the less well-known but fascinating burial ground of Ancient Athens at Kerameikos.

Ancient Rome
Saturday 5 March 2011, 2–5pm
Take in the ancient sites that you could cover on a day visit to Rome, including the Forum Romanum, Colosseum, Pantheon and baths of Caracalla. A visual feast that will wet your appetite for Roman Antiquity.

Renaissance Venice
Saturday 9 April 2011, 2–5pm
